I was looking for a portacrib to use in my in-home childcare. New guidelines are in effect this December so I am gradually replacing my 10-year old cribs. Other cribs I looked at fit the new guidelines but cost more and I didn't think they seemed as safe as my old portacribs. The LA Baby Contemporary Style Portable Crib for Institutional Use completely fits my requirements. The mattress is thick enough that I don"t feel I need to purchase a new mattress as well as a crib. It was easy to assemble and it looks great! I will be purchasing another one before December!

I am so very happy with this little crib!!I needed something for our grandchildren when they come and visit...and not having room to have a (full-size) crib set up all the time, I looked for a folding/portable miniature crib. I wanted something solid, looked nice, was safe, heavy duty, easy to set-up and take-down, and would LAST (we have six children and hope for LOTS of grandchildren). This little crib meets and EXCEEDS all my hopes!!This little bed, with it's craftsmanship and solid structure is like something you would have expected in years past. (In this day we have gotten so cheap, not caring about quality nor taking any pride in the product we produce. That's a shame.) I love it!It comes with a 3" deep mattress which is very nice and fits snugly in the bed. Has huge HEAVY DUTY rubber casters for wheels. I got it in the natural finish and it's a beautiful bed. Nicely sanded and finished. The picture shown shows two Velcro straps to hold the bottom mattress board in place...mine has three. (And I think this is just a safety feature as the mattress board can in no way fall through...it sets FIRMLY on the inside edges of the crib.) It rolls with ease and doesn't even take a minute to set-up and take-down.It was easy to put together. (I'm a 46 year old woman and did it myself.) It's a nice size too! I worried about it being too small (as we would like even a one year old to be able to use it) and since our grandchild is only 5 months right now I looking up average height and weights of a one year old and measuring it out to get an idea of it's size. I needn't have worried. The bed seems huge and it will more then fit a one year old. He can then move to a toddler size bed and his new baby brother/sister coming can use the crib.Another crib I looked at was a Dream On Me 2 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009S2OGHO/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) as it too is for "institutional use" and came up in my search. It looked heavy duty but just didn't have the craftsmanship this one had. It's NOT a pretty bed. Looks rather "clunky". The legs don't look very nice where the wheels attach at the bottom, and I didn't like how the ends of the bed are with several pieces of wood put together to make to make an end. That sort of construction (especially in an area that gets use) doesn't tend to stay solid very long. This bed only came with a 1" mattress and the price is MUCH higher.I worry about buying things online...what you get for your purchase. I don't know why there aren't very many reviews on this products (which made me hesitate), and at the time of this writing there are two unhappy ones. It's an excellent little bed and I just can't say enough GOOD about it!! I am so very pleased!!! I'm a picky person and I am so completely...totally...happy with it.
