After careful research I decided I wanted a wool-filled mattress protector, which this product seemed to be. However when I received it, the label and description confirms it is a cotton filled mattress. It has no wool or any of the great properties described of the no-cry wool filling. Natura does make the wool filled mattress pad, but unfortunately it is not the one being sold here.

I have an expensive thick water-proof mattress. I regret purchasing it since most pads come water-proof. I think it makes babies sweat if there is no padding between the mattress and the baby. So I was looking for a pad that was not water-proof to allow my baby's body to breathe. I found just very few pads that were non water-proof and most of them would have not fit the thick mattress. This one fit nicely. My baby does not sweat any more and sleeps more comfortably. I washed it, and the pad looked as if it were brand new. Did not shrink, did not change the appearance. Great product!

This is a good mattress pad considering the fact there are none really that are organic and washable. It is not wool though it has cotton inside so not as water resistant as wool but you can wash it. Natura makes a wool core one but that one is not washable. They used to have a washable one but it did not hold up well and would shrink so maybe that is why they now say it is non-washable. If you want an all organic and washable that is one of the only options. In fact I do not even think there is another all organic crib pad that is washable. There are other companies that make chemical free ones but usually only the outer cotton is organic not the fill inside. Natura also makes waterproof ones but not all organic. If you use this along with a wool puddle pad plus the sheet it should be enough to protect the mattress from damp diaper leaks.
