The dual pod crib mattress has two sculpted, contoured pods on a diagonal at each end of the crib mattress to provide the infants with a safe, controlled and supportive co-sleeping environment. The dual pods also allow you to reposition your babies each time you or your caregiver lay them down to rest. This technique incorporates the new American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) guidelines where pediatricians suggest repositioning your baby to reduce flat spots or what is known as positional plagiocephaly. We used this product to co-bed our twin boys and it worked great! It helped with keeping their heads from being flat after many months in the NICU. Also, we are currently using the mattresses on the other side without the cut out as the boys are older and can flip over on their stomachs. The mattresses are great quality and quite firm, which is what we were looking. I loved that we could use the mattress to co-bed for the first few months after discharge from the hospitalPros:-Great for twins-Great construction-Only mattress that I have seen that addresses the head shape during sleep-Good priceCons:-Not completely "environmentally-friendly" or organic as we were looking for, but all-in-all a great purchase.
