When I purchased this crib in December 2012, it was described as a convertible crib that "easily converts into a toddler bed with an optional toddler guard rail and a day bed".When I contacted Pali in order to purchase this guard rail at the beginning of January 2013, I was told that they had decided to change product design and that it was no longer convertible to toddler bed. Initially I thought that this was some sort of a miscommunication since the product description on Amazon, Pali's own website, and on websites of other online retailers all stated that this crib was convertible to a toddler bed. There was even a separate section for it in the product's manual.After being given a run around treatment for a few weeks by Pali's customer service, I was finally informed that this guard rail was never produced and would never be produced and given a copy of their fine print policy which stated that Pali can change their designs at any time without notice.Basically, I was rudely told that I should have made better due diligence before making the purchase, and that if I am not satisfied than I should return the crib to Amazon.I ask you, what else could anyone have done, short of directly calling their production line, to find out about this change in design when the product description on their own website did not reflect this.Their "advise" to return the crib to Amazon was the final insult since the crib has been used by my baby for almost two months now so no return is possible.I won't be buying anything from Pali Designs ever again.If the manufacturer cannot be trusted to make even a smallest effort to inform their customers about such critical product design changes than it is not worth the risk of buying from. This is especially true at price levels Pali is asking for its furniture.Safe yourselves the trouble and buy your crib and furniture from their competitors, like Babyletto. Comparable quality, better design, cheaper, and definitely better customer service.

This is a standard wood crib, and even though it folds to a small 1 foot tall size, it's well made.However, Pali needs to re-consider their packaging. This item is setup for damage in shipping. Minimal Styrofoam caused it to be delivered with damage. Pali should seriously think about how it wants to provide items to manufacturers, especially one as delicate as a baby crib.
