Nice toddler bed

I purchased the Sorelle Joel Toddler Bed in Oak on Pine about 2 years ago when my daughter just turned 1 yrs old. Now, she is 4 years old and still uses this bed. This bed was extremely easy to put together and it is sturdy after 2 years of use. I love the quality of the bed. It is sturdy. The only drawback I have about this bed is the drawer. The drawer is wide, but not deep. Plus, like another reviewer mentioned, it does not stay on the tracks that well, which causes it to be difficult to open and close. Being that the bed is made out of Pine, it does scratch easily. There are a few scratches on the bed that shows, but what can you do. It's wood and it is bound to get knicked up. I am on the market again for another toddler bed, since my youngest will be 1 yrs old in May. I will be looking at purchasing this bed, in the same color, again.

this bed is just right...

We had a convertible crib, but when it came time to convert it, the mattress surface was just too high - 22 inches. Our little guy had to jump out. This bed is sturdy and the mattress surface is 15 inches off the floor. So, our little guy can just slide off and still keep his balance.Assembling the mattress support was a bit tricky, requiring two extra hands. I would recommend marking the position of the holes for each dowel with a sharpie -- that will help you position each of the slats. Took some trial and error before I figured that out....I saw the other comments on here about the drawer, and I have to agree that it has questionable utility -- it just isn't very deep. I decided to assemble it anyhow, and taking the comments here to heart, I used some wood glue on the joints to reduce the flimsiness. All the drawer is holding is the instructions and the little hex wrench they give you for assembly. It's perfect for that!I'm not happy at all with the Amazon delivery contractor -- "Pilot". I made an appointment with them using their system, asking for 9-12. They called at 12 and said it would be 2, called at 1:30 and said it would be 3, then called at 4 to reschedule.... Finally showed up at 5:30 in what appeared to be an airport shuttle van. Rather than making an appointment, I wish there was an option for "leave it on my porch and I'll call you if it's damaged". I would have been happy with that; that's what UPS and Fedex do.But just a minor annoyance. My son is sleeping in the bed right now, so it seems to work.

Decent bed

The bed was very easy to put together. I put it together by myself with being 7 months pregnant and I had no problems with it. The bed is very sturdy and my son loves it. The only thing is that the side rails are very low once you put the mattress on the bed. We used a regular crib mattress and the rails ended up being barely 1/2 inch above the mattress. Other then the low side rails we really like the bed- well built and beautiful look. Because of the rails I only gave it 4 stars as if I had a kid that was active when sleeping the low rails might be an issue.

I was looking for a mat for my 5-month old son who is into a tummy time. I've got two tummy time mats previously, but they are slippery so my son kept sliding during tummy time. (He once landed on his chin after lifting his chest.) So I was looking for a mat that is sturdy and that can ground to the floor without us keep pulling the mat to straighten it. This mat is a winner! It is a medium weight so you can roll and move it to other place in the house if you would like. The quality is very good and it is so easy to clean the surface. (We don't walk over the mat with shoes on.) The pictures are bright to attract my son's attention; the mat seems educational when he grows little older. Most importantly it is pretty sturdy, not slippery. I usually have my 8 months old nephew come into our house. He's into crawling these days so both my son and the nephew play on the mat-- one crawling while other one is having a tummy time. When my son is there by himself, I usually make one side of the mat as a changing section.

Received the product a few weeks ago. There were several puncture holes and tears in the box it was shipped in (shipped via UPS; I have had several items w/ damaged boxes and sometimes damaged goods that I have had to report that were shipped from them). No visible damage to the crib thank goodness. My advice, always take photos of the box/packaging if there's visible damage 'prior' to opening.About the crib... My husband put it together by himself fairly quick. The color is gorgeous. A little deeper than an oak. The height for me is perfect. I am 5 ft tall and don't have to worry about standing or leaning too much on the crib like I had to with my son's delta crib b/c it's railings sat higher up. If you are a shorter person who is looking for a convertible crib in a lighter color I highly recommend this. However, if you are a tall person you might not like the height of the ralings and crib. It may put a lot of strain on your back, which after a cesarean is a horrible feeling. The detail on the crib is beautiful. From the ground to the top of the front rail it's approximately 35.5"; and to the top of the back of the crib it is ~ 40.5". The inside measurements appear to be approximately 27.5" x 52" (or 52.5"- will have to recheck this with some help). I have done some research on mattress dimensions on Amazon and other sites, andhave read a review stating that a Sealy crib mattress fit theirs perfectly. I will post an update once the mattress arrives. Just a reminder to those ordering cribs and mattresses online. Wait until the crib arrives if you are unable to get measurements for the inside of the crib for a mattress. Also, several cribs these days are made with a softer wood, unless you buy a high end ($$$$ expensive) all wood crib. What this means is impressions and indentations are easier to make in them than some other solid wood types. My son's delta crib had the same issues about easy indentation marks being left from bitting on the wood as several other people have remarked with several types of cribs. Having kids = some destruction of things.****Update: I purchased a mattress on amazon (Sealy Baby Posturepedic Mattress). The dimensions for the mattress fit the crib perfect. Very snug fit with no gaps around the sides. My daughter has been a mover and would roll herself against the sides of her bumper. Since she was too little to move away I took the bumper off. She was then getting her leg caught between the bars when she rolled, so I invested in a mesh crib bumper. No issues with it. The material is soft and easy to breathe through (I did test it out myself). I bought one that fits any size crib. It came with 2 pieces, which i did some overlapping to eliminate gaps. As for using the Neptune Soother aquarium, it is best to put on the tall back side rails of the crib. I had it on the front and it was not secure, and actually fell. It was basically impossible to fit the straps around the front rail. But good on the back (same with my son's Delta crib too). The mobile we used, we attached to the side of the crib for a while. Then decided to put it on the back side of the crib. So far, no issues with the design/craftsmanship of the crib. Had to retorque the hex screws some (b/c my son loves to climb and pull on the rails & tell his sister good morning), but that was it.

What a wonderful piece of furniture at an excellent price! Very pleased with this product. The detailing is beautiful. It's much better in person & put together than I thought. Was expecting this to be a cheap crib, but when we received it & put it together in our daughter's nursery, it's perfect. Couldn't be more pleased with it. There's also no keeping up with the directions for when ready to change to a toddler bed, daybed, etc. They are glued to where the mattress is! Makes it even better! :

Great crib for the price

We just received our crib yesterday. I was very hesitant to purchase a crib on-line, site unseen, with no store to take it back to.So here goes:1) Worry one, the crib would show up damaged.It showed up with no major parts damage. It is packaged in a box inside a box separated by a 1/2 inch layer of Styrofoam. I say "no major damage" because some of the parts probably rubbed together in shipping and the white paint in a few small areas was worn down to the wood. Nothing a 2 minute touch up job couldn't take care of, and if you are not as anal retentive as I am it probably wouldn't even bother you not to touch it up.2) Worry two, the crib would not be solid constructionThe crib is solid wood construction, the only part that isn't real wood is the base under the mattress. It is some form of compressed composite. We purchased a solid wood crib in 2005 from Baby Depot for $400, there are subtle differences in the construction, but this crib seems as solid as the one from Baby Depot does. The differences are: The Stork Craft crib uses a allen screw with a cylinder lock bolt system for assembly, while my other crib has pressed in fitting with allen screws so the assembly is easier. Secondly, my original crib has a steel frame with support springs (think bed support for a pull out couch) to support the mattress, while the Stork Craft uses a piece of compressed fiber board made firm with two 1 by 1 pine boards. So I think this is the only weak point in the construction, but if my kid doesn't turn out to be Jaba-the-Hut or a Sumo wrestler it shouldn't be a problem. Additionally, this crib was $200 less than the other one, so I think the slightly weaker support is not a bad concession.Final thoughts:1) The directions aren't great, but it isn't hard to assemble. If you can point to the correct end of a screw driver you should have any problem. It assembles in about 30 minutes.2) Some of the screw holes were not precisely drilled in the correct places, but if you put the screws in loose at first, then tighten the whole crib together you shouldn't have a problem.3) If fits a standard crib mattress size.Hope this helps you make your decision. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that I wasn't completely happy with the mattress support as discussed above.

our baby is not born at the time of this review, however everything went together really well. for the most part.here are my view points1. my 8 month pregnant wife put this together on her own, (i was at work and she was bored) with no problem.2. everything fit just right, she said that she had to pull it back apart a couple times, she didnt realized a piece was on backwards till 3 steps later. otherwise good.3. this item is about as sturdy as any item of this kind and cost. we have a similar built changing table, if you put your weight on it it might go through the flooring of it. but a baby is of no concern to it.4. the only bad in the construction of the cradle was the wheels. they are good wheels. smooth easy to roll etc.. but they are covered in plastic at the top. this plastic top is what wedges them into the wood of the cradle.either the wheels were a size to small, or the wood was drilled to big. either way they fell out if you picked up the cradle.so i just wrapped a few (2-3) layers of masking tape on the top of the plastic and problem solved.over all im very happy, i only gave it a 4 because i was unimpressed with the shotty drill holes for the wheels.EDIT: our baby is 2 months old. and still in this cradle. very sturdy and it is holding up very well. HOWEVER since the legs are held together by one long piece of wood, and then the cradle, it sometimes "tweaks" when you try to roll the cradle. this causes you to walk to the other side to move it some more. i believe it is meant to be pushed long ways not sideways. especially on carpet.another note is that 2 wheels have locks built in, unless you have an angled wood floor or a ton of kids that like to push things this is unnecessary. and the wheels sometimes lock randomly. i dont know if the wheels moving lock them, or if we bump them with our feet. needless to say its a nuisance.i still rate it a 4.

This is a decent product, but it seems a tad overpriced for the actual quality. It's easy to assemble, that's a plus, but it's not exactly going to wow you with its sturdiness. While I understand that it's supposed to hold an infant, a little more rigidity would be nice. I don't like the way the legs seem to wobble a bit when you rock the cradle. The alignment seems a little bit off, too - the sleeping area and the legs are slightly skewed.You will want to replace the flimsy mattress that comes with it, too.It does seem adequately safe, and my child sleeps fine in it.Also, it's a nice look - a modern take on a classic idea, and that's well-accomplished with this design, so there are good points, too.If it were cheaper, I would rate this higher, because it's not bad, but for the flaws it has, it shouldn't cost as much as it does.

DaVinci Futura Cradle - LOVE IT!

Love the style and size of the cradle -- fits an 18 x 36 standard cradle size mattress. It came with a very thin/flimsy 1-inch vinyl lined foam mattress. But, I expected that it would be flimsy because of the thickness (1-inch) and ordered an additional (18 x 36, 2-inch thickness) mattress to use along with the other. Both mattresses fit in the cradle nicely. FYI - This cradle fits a cradle bumper of 108 inches (in length). NOW we're just waiting for our little one to arrive (due 2-1-2011)!
