Nice, not perfect, needs improvement.

I chose to buy this after doing a lot of research and reading a lot of reviews on various sites. Unfortunately, I found a lot of reviews seem to gloss over the important to know flaws and focus on the not so important stuff. As a mom of three awaiting my fourth, I have been around the baby product block MANY a time. The reviews I've read seem to make light of the noticable functionality flaws and make this product seem like a better buy than it really is, no offense intended to other reviewers, just my opinon.Positives:1) Nice looking overall; fabric is not cheap, well put together (see cons as well)2) Gliding motion works ok and the music is quite nice (see cons as well)3) A sturdy product, you don't worry about it falling apart with baby in it4) An ok price for a FULL size, BIG bassinet, especially with free shipping. If it goes on sale for cheaper after you purchase it contact customer service for a price adjustment...Amazon is notorious for doing this! (see cons as well)5) Large size is great for larger babies (like mine) who tend to outgrow smaller, more portable size bassinets quickly.Negatives:1) (As another commenter mentioned) The sounds play only for a pre-set time, then you have to hit the button again, a remote would have been a good idea.2) The gliding motion while it does glide, is a bit noisy and a little less than smooth for my comfort level.3) The colors overall are misrepresented in the picture. The legs appear black and some of the fabric appear a yellowish color. In actuality the fabric is a lime-ish green and all metal is brown and wood almost a cherry/ brown.4) This is a very big and heavy bassinet. Measure your space before buying and compare to the measurements listed. It is not one you will want to bring up and downstairs but rather leave in one place.5) While it has wheels to roll it around on one side of the legs, they don't work very well and the legs scratched my laminate floor.6) The mattress was my breaking point...it is stiff, thin and hard. The included sheet is scratchy even after washing. I would most likely have purchased one of those foam inserts that help with flat head syndrome as I don't feel this mattress is at all adequate. Anyone who says the mattress is good, comfortable or adequate...OY!? A serious oversight by Fisher-Price!7) The fabrics do not come off easily in any respects. You will spend a lot of time unscrewing fabrics from the frame if you get anything on them and aren't happy with just wiping the stains with a cloth (think spit up, poop explosions, pet hair, dustiness etc.)Overall ok, but just like in the past with other Fisher-Price products (and as I said, this is my fourth baby and have been through MANY a product change), I am certain they will fix these issues and come up with an overall better product.I sold this bassinet privately to someone who was a little more happy with it than I was, and they got to see it in person/measure it and their space before buying it. I purchased something else; a large cradle by Green Tree Frog designs that came with a real Sealy mattress and gorgeous accessories, that I love for a similar price on sale.Hope this helps...

Great Product ! ! NOTHING like all other reviews.

Ok I do agree with others about the color, but I like this somewhat lime looking color better than the yellow bee look in these pictures. I read all of these reviews and was about to not buy this model. I looked at others like this and didn't like them at all. I am really glade I went with my gut and bought this model. I read a review about the storage basket cover was not able to come off without cutting it off to wash, A LIE. there are little brackets on both sides that release and the cover comes right off. The Pad is not very padded if I am going to lay on it, but the doctors tell you to not use a soft padding because of SIDS. the pad is ok. I also read a review about the size was very bulky. I Like big things I really thought by the reviews it was going to be bigger. I love the size and really love the size of the storage basket. If you need extra storage for diapers and other things this model has it. I didn't think it was black I really thought it was all cherry wood and that was what I really wanted. I think the metal legs are better then the wood would have been. The smell you hear a review talk about is not the cemicals in the material it is from being stored with the partical boards that are the top to the glider and the bottom to the storage basket. I have not yet used the bassinet for the child I bought it for because he will not be her untill August, but his big sister loves it. the max weight says 25, she is 21.5 lbs and it does great with her. she is 2 and likes to move alot so when she moves alot it does make a catch noise like the gears are slipping. all in all I would not have any dought about buying this product. I do wish it had 4 wheels instead of just 2, it would make it a little more moveable in small corners. It is not really a bassinet that is for going up and down stairs all the time. you can do it, but it is a little heavy. Box and all materials weighed 48 pounds. I love this product I hope you will too.

Nice, but not perfect, good overall value

We chose this over a standard furniture bassinet, or the one by Eddie Bauer that is carried by Babies 'R Us and Target. It is better looking than those, and the motion / sounds made it seem like a good buy.Pros:- Nice looking, not chintzy in appearance, good quality- Built-in sounds are good, our baby actually likes the heartbeat sound- never thought those would really work, but he cries the second it comes off (at one month old, anyway).- Back/forth motion seems to help if he is a little restless, although it's no substitute for holding himCons:- the sounds play only for a pre-set time, then you have to hit the button again- like I said, our guy cries instantly, whether he seems asleep or not, the second the sounds stop. And the sounds only play for a few minutes before they turn off. I don't believe there is a way to change this.- the motion is a little noisy in my opinion, not terrible, but certainly not dead quiet.- the color choice is what it is, no way to choose or change it. it doesn't match anything in our house, but that's just the way it is.- a tad bit smaller (actual bassinet part) than some cheaper alternatives- our boy may grow out of it fairly soon, because he is long.Overall, nice, but the next version should be better if they fix these issues.

Okay crib, SHADY manufacturer.

The crib itself is adequate. We bought it because it was the cheapest cherry one on Amazon, at the time about $70. I would not pay as much as it is listed for now - nearly double. There are much fancier, more detailed crib designs out there in that price range.When used in the toddler bed position, my toddler jumped on the bed (of course!) and the stabilizer bar snapped. It is cheaply made - not one continuous piece of wood, but rather had a seam about 1/4 into it where 2 pieces of wood had been joined together.I stopped using the bed (thankfully this happened right as we were transitioning him to a twin size big boy bed) and contacted Dream On Me about getting a replacement. The crib had only been in use for 16 months or so (we had a different one for the first 6 months of my son's life that was drop-side... we replaced it with this one due to safety concerns). I was told by the contact at the company that they had the part in the warehouse and it would arrive within a week.When I followed up that email about 2 weeks later asking where the part was, I was told it was out of stock, and to just continue to use the crib in it's broken state (!!!). Keep in mind, the part that broke is called a STABILIZER BAR.I was a bit gobsmacked that an infant item manufacturer would tell me, in writing, to just keep using a broken crib. I attempted to locate a CEO or higher-up's email and found none, so I called the company to try to get an alternate email. The woman I spoke with was so rude she was bordering on being hostile and aggressive, and she jealously guarded any one else in the company's email address, and refused to give me contact info for anyone but this one person who I had already dealt with.At this point I have forwarded the email to the CPSC and Consumer Reports. I wrote on their Facebook and have asked my friends to share about what is going on with their potentially fatal advice to use a broken crib.I then heard back from this same person. She is now backpedaling and saying she never told me it was shipped and can make no guarantees. Her original email said, and I quote, "Therefore; you shall receive the stabilizer bar within next week."I have never dealt with such a shady baby product company. I am looking to resell the crib as my son has outgrown it. I can't do that if it is broken. I also can't reuse it myself if it's broken. Hopefully they step up and send me the part. I have offered multiple times to pay for it, even though they offered it for free, as I know my son is the one who broke it, and I take full responsibility for that. Dream On Me's response though?"The stabilizer bar didn't break due to a crib malfunctioning, but because the child was jumping in the crib according to your e-mail. Cribs are not made for children to jump in them. "Yes, that's right parents: This crib is not made to be jumped on. This CONVERTIBLE crib that is mean to be used as a toddler bed. If your toddler ever jumps on it, evidently this company has no responsibility whatsoever for what happens to your child's life and limbs, in their eyes.Caveat emptor. I would avoid this company's products if at all possible. I will update if and when I am able to obtain a replacement stabilizer bar to use this crib safely. Frankly, after the manner in which they have conducted themselves, I will never buy one of their products ever again even IF they do make this right.ETA:I contacted the CPSC regarding this company's deplorable behavior (lying and advising a parent to use a broken crib). The CPSC Compliance Officer was able to contact the company president. So, someone higher up than the misinformed, defensive peon whom I was dealing with (Jamie E.) is aware of what the official voice of this company is advising parents in writing to do. Unfortunately the stabilizer bar is out of stock and evidently will never be back in stock ever again.I am left with a disposable crib - it's broken, I can't get it repaired. I can't resell it in good conscious. I can't use it again myself. I'm not even sure my local Goodwill accepts cribs. I will probably have to pay to dispose of this at the dump.I have yet to get a single apology from this company - no apology for lying, for the potentially fatal advise to use a broken crib, for not having a replacement part available. Nothing but rudeness and disingenuous blame-shifting while they hide behind semantics.I will NEVER buy another Dream On Me/Mia Moda product again. This company should just advertise for Graco, because they are sure sending my baby-related dollars their way.Hopefully the CPSC takes some kind of action against them for advising parents to use broken cribs.

Check Prop 65 Warning!

I bought this crib without realizing that it had the CA Prop 65 warning which means it contains harmful leaves of certain chemicals (formaldehyde I think...) that can cause cancer and birth defects! Why would they use these on a crib?!?I immediately returned it (thankfully Amazon offers free returns) and bought a crib that does not use these chemicals...Update (Feb. 2013) -- my original review was written in 2010 and the warning was present for this crib. It has since been removed. However, I still encourage everyone to pay attention to these types of warnings on all children's products!

Great crib for the price!

We werent planning on having another baby so when our daughter turned 2 and we moved her to a regular bed, we sold our 300$ crib that had seen us through both our son and daughter. Since we knew for sure that our son born in July 2010 was our last we were looking for an affordable yet safe crib. We had pretty much decided on an Ikea crib since they get awesome reviews,however we couldnt find the time to drive to Ikea and get the crib we wanted and delivery was more expensive than the crib itself. I saw this crib on Amazon one morning for $75.00 and bought it. It was delivered 2 days later and I put it together at 38 weeks pregnant by myself. Its a very sturdy crib. So far I have no complaints about this crib. I love the fact that the sides are stationary and also have chew guards already on them. Great product for the price !

Babies R Us Bassinet Pad fits this Graco Stages Crib perfectly!

I bought two of these Graco Stages Travel Lite cribs for my baby -- one to use as a bassinet in our bedroom and one for naps and playtime downstairs. I chose this over the larger standard-size pack n plays because it fits through standard size doorways, which makes it so convenient to move around the house (only two of the four corners is on wheels, though, so you have to lift one end and drag it to move).The "mattress" it comes with is a really thin and hard board, and I looked all over online to find something to make it more comfortable. Then I came across the bassinet pads made by Babies R Us -- the 31 x 18 x 1 size fits perfectly. BRU makes two sizes of bassinet pads so make sure you get the right one. The Carter's changing pad cover also fits perfectly over both mattresses as a sheet.

SAFETY WARNING - PLS READ BEFORE BUYING!!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, because I too was initially really happy with this bassinet. Our brand new Notting Hill Bassinet fell apart with only a few weeks worth of use. (SEE PHOTO GALLERY!) We barely used it, followed all of the installation directions carefully, and our child was well within the weight limit. We have a 3.5 week old (now roughly 8 pounds) who actually doesn't even spend that much time in it. This morning I noticed a roughly 6 inch tear in the side stitching, which is essentially what holds the mattress of the bassinet up. The 6 plastic side straps are a bit deceiving because they are cosmetic vs. functional - in other words, there is really little holding the mattress (and your baby up) other than cloth that is stitched around the metal bars. If the stitching goes, so does the mattress. I am in the process of contacting Graco regarding this, but wanted to alert others first. This is not a cosmetic flaw. It is a potentially dangerous one. Again, I have included a photo of the damage in the image gallery. If you bought one, return it. If you already own one, and can't return it, please keep a close eye on the stitching. Ours fell apart very suddenly.UPDATE AS OF 9/13/11:I was issued a full refund without question by Rubbermaid (owns Graco) for the amount I paid on Amazon. I had to provide them a receipt. They sent me a prepaid shipping label for the bassinet so they could take a look at the damage themselves. IF YOU HAVE ONE, CONTACT GRACO ASAP AND REQUEST A FULL REFUND. So far we are very happy with this item, which we are planning to use as a bassinet when the baby arrives. It is a nice size and 100% more sturdy than the bassinet we used with our first baby. It set up very quickly and easily and I think it will be quite easy to travel with because it is so compact. I like, too, that it is so light-weight and easy to move around the room. I was also very happy with the "mattress" that it comes with. Our full size pack n play (edie bauer) has a terrible mattress that is quite hard and barely lays flat, our son barely ever was able to sleep on it. The Graco pad is nicely padded but still firm, which is typically recommended for young babies. If anything, I don't see much of a purpose for the sun shade since I will be using it indoors. It's not adjustable so it has to be either up as pictured or pulled off the crib entirely. I think we will just be storing it away.Sidebar: I purchased the Carter's jersey bassinet fitted sheet. They are nice and soft and fit the mattress perfectly. I was hesitant to buy the Graco brand since they seem to have such bad reviews.

This bed was a perfect fit for our daughter's room (which she's going to be sharing with a new brother or sister soon...so there will also be a crib in the room). She just turned 2 and loves that she can get into her bed on her own. The big issue though is the teeny little guard rails aren't enough. We are currently looking for longer side rails for this bed so that she doesn't end up on the floor again.

I bought this for my 2 year old who was getting ready to leave the crib. We knew he wasn't ready for a twin bed yet so we got this for a few years until he's ready. It was fairly easy to put together. My non-handymannish husband had it done in about an hour. He said there were no problems with it coming together.My son loves it! We have barely had any problem with him sleeping in it. It's really low to the ground so he loves that he can put himself to bed. He sleeps up next to the rails at the head of the bed, probably because it reminds him of the crib.My 5 year old decided to jump on it and it held up fine. They both lie down on it together and there's plenty of room.Happy with the purchase. Would recommend it wholeheartedly!

Low to the ground and no sharp edges!

I love this bed! First let me start by saying this bed has a "50lb limit" but I'm not sure why other than for "legal reasons" I lay in this bed with my daughter every night as she's falling asleep and there's never even been a 'creak' from the wood suggesting it's going to buckle under me. (I weigh 110lbs) The bed itself is just as pictured.Construction is very straight forward. Took about an hour to put together because I had two helpers circling me and 'helping' The only complaint I had is where that center 'foot' is - that is where the two main side boards come together and on one side it doesn't line up flush with the other one EXACTLY. This is very OCD of me and you hardly notice it unless you get down and look, but it's not perfect and honestly it probably isn't the same on every bed (it wasn't even an issue on the other side of the bed)My biggest question was what was the base of the bed made of. We have a thinner Ikea crib mattress that is on this bed so it was really important to me that we did not get a "slat" bed. This bed has 4 thick particile board pieces that create a solid surface for the mattress to lay on. There are support beams that are built into the frame that form an + under that. It is a very sturdy bed and my 3.5 year old and my 14 month old can jump, wallow, and play all over it. In fact my 27" little girl can literally just step off the bed by walking. (We have a 3" mattress on it) Although I will warn you the Ikea mattress is just a TINY bit too wide for it, but since it's a softer mattress that's not an issue - so be sure to measure your mattress.I'm so glad that I found this bed - it matches her room so well and works great for my little one to be crib free at such a young age. :)

Great for the price

After returning a much more expensive product with all of the bells and whistles and a similar product by Evenflo, I did a lot of research on which playard would be best for us. We had no use for the changing tables attached to many of them, and wanted one that would allow us to pack the bassinet into the carry bag for travel. Many of them do not allow you to do this. This one is serving us quite well. It is easy to put up and take down--much easier than the Evenflo or Baby Trend ones. The bassinet just snaps on the sides and doesn't require a lot of metal bars, like others do. There are also buttons on each side to release them for folding, which I find easier than the things you have to push from underneath and can't even see. I would only go with Graco. Also, the padding is a bit softer than these other brands. It's still not really comfortable for our baby, but I just put a blanket between the pad and the sheet, and he seems to sleep fine. This is where I take off a star. I don't know why manufacturers think that a baby wants to sleep on a piece of cardboard. Overall, I have no complaints, and find this product to be well worth the price.

Great function and value

Three pack and plays from different companies. This one is by FAR the better one. Bonus: It cost the least. Pros: easy to setup, easy to pack up, very sturdy, fairly light and seemingly the most comfortable. Cons: I haven't found one in 21 months despite my daughters hard work to find a flaw.

Rave review for Graco Pack N Play - Our 3rd one

These Graco Pack N Plays are great. We just bought our 2nd and 3rd ones as grandparents. This newer model is much easier to set up and much easier to take apart with the big release buttons on each of the 4 sides. Don't tell the younger generation but these are very much like the playpens of years ago ... yes, I know ... playpens are out these days as this generation of parents wants to give their kids freedom to move around and go where they want :-) Back to the product: the value for the price is outstanding. These Pack N Plays seem to last forever. Graco Pack N Play with Bassinet The write up ought to say that sheet is no longer included.
