Just as expected.

This crib mattress is great. Very lightweight, which will hopefully make late night crib sheet changes easier. I also like that there are two levels of firmness. One side is very firm for infants, while the other is softer for older babies. The two sides are clearly marked by label which is which. The mattress arrived quickly, in a large box, and wrapped in plastic, so we were able to put it right in the crib. This mattress is also recommended by the Baby Bargains book - another must purchase for first time parents!

Best Crib Mattress

This is hands-down the best crib mattress out there. We purchased a well-reviewed spring mattress for our little one, and when it came, I just felt uncomfortable with how much my baby sank into that mattress when we laid him on it. Then a friend recommended the Moonlight Slumber, and I can't say enough good things about it. The foam is soft, but a great firmness for a newborn. If you are concerned about the expense, don't be. It will more than pay for itself in giving you worry-free nights of sleep (especially if you're a first-time parent), and it is one of the few products for baby that you use every day, multiple times a day.

Finally found the perfect mattress!

As first time parents, we spent a lot of time researching every single product a parent might buy for their new baby. One of the toughest products for us to decide upon was the best mattress for our soon to be born baby boy. So many differing opinions on the necessary firmness, the best materials, foam vs spring, etc.We spent weeks struggling with this decision. After all, apart from maybe the choice of car seat, this is probably the second most important product category in terms of infant and toddler safety. I read through countless hundreds of reviews, spent time examining and measuring dozens of different mattresses in stores. But with so much conflicting information, it was still hard to make a decision.I really wanted to go with the Colgate Classica I, one of the more popular choices at the moment and one of the recommendations in the book Baby Bargains, an excellent guide for parents-to-be. However, there are lots of conflicting reviews as to whether the Classica is actually TOO firm. After testing it out in person, I happen to agree with this. The Classica is the firmest mattress I found anywhere by leaps and bounds, to the point where I felt sure that it would be uncomfortably hard.After giving up on that idea, I found this Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer to be my next choice. I liked the idea of a company founded with the sole focus of creating the best possible crib mattress. Furthermore, it has the added benefits of being made of top quality, eco-friendly materials. No worries about chemicals or low grade materials, as this product is built and designed right here in the United States out of medical grade foam. We wanted foam over spring, as foam is significantly lighter in weight, which aids in those late night sheet changes.The dual sided densities are an excellent feature. To me, the firmest side feels like the absolute perfect level of firmness for a newborn/infant. Its very firm to the point where it feels certain to be safe, but with just the slightest bit of give to feel like it will still be somewhat comfortable. The slightly less firm side is still plenty firm, but with a little extra give for when your baby gets older.I also love the fact that the mattress is side stitched. This is a feature that never would have even crossed my mind when I first started looking. Instead of the standard construction where the seems of the mattress are bonded around the top edges of the mattress, the seams on the Little Dreamer are around the middle of the sides, one long continuous seam around the entire circumference, bonded together in a way where they are almost completely flat. This means if something spills on the cover, or if the baby has an accident, there are no crevices for anything to get trapped, and no space for mold to grow. The cover is also water resistant so nothing gets soaked into the mattress.Also, for anyone looking, we are using this mattress in the Babyletto Hudson crib, and it is a perfect snug fit. The corners are very square and it perfectly fits our crib, no unsafe gaps. We love the crib too, apart from one issue with a piece that was drilled incorrectly (replaced quickly by Amazon) it is absolutely wonderful. You can read my review about it on the product page.I realize there are many cheaper options out there, but this is one product where I feel justified in spending a little extra to get something as high quality as this mattress. Buy it and never look back, you won't regret it.

Really nice

I really like this. Short of spending untold amounts on an organic or natural mattress, there's little alternative to keeping your baby from sleeping on vinyl. Most of the mattress pads I saw were lined with vinyl or very thin and didn't provide much of a buffer between my baby and the vinyl lining on her mattress. This provides that natural sleeping surface I'm looking for, and it lets her skin breathe, as opposed to sleeping on vinyl and sweating. I'm not sure it really helps keep her warm in the winter, as the description claims, but it definitely creates a cushioned, snuggly topper that makes her cozy (I'm no authority, but it's not so fluffy that I have safety concerns; I started using this when she was ~4mo old).Cleaning is a breeze in the washer and I hang it dry. I use a wide comb to fluff the wool afterward, but it may not even be necessary. If you put it in the dryer on no heat, it would probably work the same.Bottom line- I would definiteyly recommend it and I'm glad I got it. It makes the mid-range mattress we bought seem like a very high-end mattress. :)

The mattress pad is unbelievably soft and comfy for my granddaughter. The only flaw I can find is that it does get matted down so every couple of days we remove the sheet cover and fluff up the wool.

a functional travel bassinet

We purchased the Phil & Teds Nest travel bassinet for our daughter, who is currently 3.5 months old and weighs about 13 lbs. We just used it for the first time last week, for 3 days away from home, and plan to use it again at least 2 more times in the near future.Basically, the Travel Nest is a collapsible bassinet that stores in its own separate compartment on the bottom of the included duffle bag, and the top compartment of the duffle bag can be used to pack other stuff, such as clothing, diapers, etc. When in use, the bassinet portion is removed from the storage duffle completely.Here are the pros and cons we have found so far:Pros:-reasonably portable; definitely much lighter and easier to manage than a pack-and-play type thing-very easy to set up and break down-it has a nice foam mattress that is firm enough for an infant but soft enough to be comfortable; I liked this better than the options with inflatable mattresses (such as the KidCo PeaPod items) because it seemed like inflatable mattresses could either be a suffocation hazard or might deflate slowly while in use and thus leave the baby sleeping on a hard floor-the sides are made of a stretchy, breathable, lightweight-yet-strong material-for our purposes, the zippered removable net to cover the bassinet is nice, as we often stay with relatives who have cats and this keeps them from thinking about trying to snuggle up with the baby-the storage compartment is basically used like a duffle bag, and is convenient as such; we were able to fit all the items we needed for our daughter for our recent trip in the duffle compartment (including a Boppy nursing pillow, clothes, diapers, a baby carrier, a couple of little toys and books, a baby blanket, and a few other things).Cons:-for $100, it ought to come with a sheet instead of having to buy them extra; we used it without a sheet which works fine for us because our daughter doesn't spit up much, but I imagine if you had a baby who does spit up a lot it would be nice to have a sheet you could change-our daughter likes to sleep with her arms extended straight out from her sides, and due to the limited width of this item she wasn't able to do that (although she still did sleep in it so it must have been comfortable enough and not too restricting)-personally I would prefer that the zipper on the net cover attachment was a bit smoother and quieter to operate so when you zip up the net cover it is less likely to wake the sleeping baby inside-we have not flown with it yet but, although I do think it would fit in an overhead bin on most planes, it is bigger than standard carry-on luggage, so it may be up to whatever airline you are flying whether or not they will allow you to take it on board (we usually fly Southwest and have traveled with an acoustic guitar in the past, which is similar in size, and sometimes they make us check it plane-side)Overall, we are happy with this purchase in light of the other options available. I personally think the $100 price tag may be a tad steep for an item that has a very limited time-frame for usefulness (probably about 9-12 months max, assuming you don't have a very large baby). However, if you will be traveling frequently with an infant I do think this is a very nice, comfortable, functional option.UPDATE: We have now flown with this travel bassinet and we did not attempt to carry it on the plane, but checked it instead. The only comment I have after this experience is that it would be nice if the bag had a detachable shoulder strap or backpack straps to give you the option of carrying it over your shoulder or as a backpack, since traveling with a baby always requires a lot of bags, and any way of freeing up an extra hand is helpful. Otherwise, as a bassinet, it was still very functional and my original review applies. I would definitely recommend this travel bed to others whose needs are similar to ours.

Too large for carry-on allowance!

I purchased the nest primarily to use as a Carry-on for air travel. It is advertised to be used for this, however, as I planned for our first trip I was shocked to realize that the dimensions are too large for the Carry-on allowance (under 45 inches in total dimension). Needless to say the bed is great for car trips and we loved it, but don't buy it expecting to take it on the plane with you.

great product

bought this for our daughter and are using it as her full-time bassinet. it's great, and love the fact that it's super-portable. when we travel, we just use the bag & bed -- the bed zips into the bottom, and all her stuff for the trip fits in the bag. traveling with a baby is no fun, but this helps make it bearable. not sure how long it will last -- i think the packaging says 9 months, and i hope it works for that long.

The first mattress for our first baby boy!

While in the process of setting up the crib for our first child, we have window-shopped extensively for a decent mattress. Needless to say, our search ended with this one. Our requirements were simple - The mattress should feel comfortable and should be very nicely made. An average quality product won't do for your bundle of joy :)The Sealy mattress fit perfectly in the crib that we purchased from some other vendor. The mattress is water proof and feels smooth and soft on touch. The sheet from the bedding set covers the mattress nicely. The mattress has side pockets to release air from the pressure of some weight being put on it. This is important as the mattress seam stays intact after constant use and will prolong the life of the product.While looking, we saw some mattresses priced over $300 and for no apparent quality difference. This mattress is very decently priced and surpasses our rigid expecations.Overall, we have been extremely pleased with the mattress. Highly recommended!

Nice mattress

Based on the description and the coil count I was expecting the mattress to be more firm than it is. But overall it's a good mattress. It's certainly not soft. Our son has been sleeping on it for the past 4 months and he seems to sleep well. I did notice that there was an indentation where his head always laid, but we switched sides and the indentation seemed to go away, so that seems to be a non-issue. The waterproof material is nice, but it makes the sheets slide, so we put a waterproof mattress pad under the fitted sheet.

Great mattress that has held up to wear!

We've had this mattress for my 3 year old son since he was about 9 months old. It is moderately firm, with enough cushion to be comfortable (yet still safe). The mattress shows absolutely no signs of wear -- no sagging, drooping, or loss of firmness. It looks as new as it did when we first got it! Highly recommend this product.

A GUIDE to make a decision

If you're thinking about buying this co-sleeper, I'm writing this for you.*Background:We wanted to have our baby in our room the first months knowing that most babies wake up every 2-3 hours and that getting up and walking to another room would be a killer (waking up is exhausting enough). I'm also breastfeeding so I didn't need to get anything ready/warm out of the bed. But if you're formula-feeding and you have bottle(s) and warmer on your night stand, you'll also find this useful.*PROS:- Convenient size. My 6-month-old still fits very comfortably lengthwise but she can touch both sides with her arms extended without being constrained.- Baby in the same room. The first days while you recover it's the perfect companion since it doesn't required you to get out. Even if your partner helps you at night, during the day if you're home alone and resting (as you should) it's great. Later is the salvation of the exhausted sleepless parents. You don't have to go out to another room.- Easy to move. The co-sleeper is intended to be used exclusively attached to the bed and there are several warnings printed in the bassinet. But we took the decision of using it unattached the first months since I needed to get in and out of the bed comfortably and not getting almost to the front of the bed. The wheels makes moving it very easy. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THIS COULD BE UNSAFE FOR OLDER BABIES ONCE THEY CAN ROLL SINCE THE BARRIER THAT GOES AGAINST YOUR BED IS ABOUT 5 INCHES HIGH AND IF THERE'S NO BED AGAINST IT, BABY COULD FALL. WE TOOK THIS DECISION AND WE CAREFULLY SUPERVISE THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR BABY.*INDIFFERENT- There are big warning labels printed in the front and one of the headers that are deliberately not shown in the Amazon picture, this could be a aesthetic issue for some people.- Most american beds are high so you'll probably need the leg extensions. You can used them without losing the wheels since they fit the extensions. We only used 2 of the pieces, since it's what we needed and because more than that would've been unstable. I suggest that you fully assemble the co-sleeper before the baby arrives in order to check if you'll be needing the leg extensions.- Assembly is not difficult. It can't be assembled as a pack and play since this is a more complex bassinet. One of the sides goes down to go against the bed but can also go up to be an independent crib. A pack-and-play can't do that, so the assembly can't be as easy. I put it together while my husband was at work and I was 8-months-pregnant, it wasn't difficult. I don't consider this point to be a negative thing.* CONS:- The mattress is thin and hard. We know that the recommendation is for babies to sleep in firm mattresses but this is way too hard. It has about 1 inch or less of padding in a hard base. I would recommend getting another mattress. We didn't do it since our little one seem to be sleeping comfortable and I added a bit of padding inside the fitted sheet.OVERALL:We would definitely buy this again. It's been a "life-saver" and a help in our sleepless nights. It's worth the money and the best is that you can easily sell it after you're done with it.Was my review helpful in taking a decision (to buy or not to buy)?

I can't believe I waited as long as I did to order this!!

This is one of the best things I've order for my baby!!! My baby's room was on the other end of my house and we was getting up every two hours (or less sometimes) and it was really hard for me to keep getting up and walking all the way across the house to get him. We even tried putting him down in his Pack-n-Play and that was still really hard. It's SO great that he is right there next to me. I can just roll over and pick him up, change him right there in the bed, feed him and lay him back down without having to get out of bed in the middle of the night. I am glad I got the "mini" version of it because it takes up less space in my room, but now that he is older (8 months) he doesn't really like sleeping in it because he likes to move around a lot. We are now in a new house and his room is right across the hall from mine and he is doing really well about sleeping in his crib now. I still have it in my room for those nights that he is really fussy. He also plays in as a Pack-N-Play when I'm doing stuff in my room or if we go to our friend's house. I really wish I had this from day one instead of waiting until he was over 3 months old!!

Co-Sleeper is great!

The co-sleeper does exactly what I expected and wanted it to. It's the perfect height for my bed. I can reach over in the middle of the night, grab my little one easily, and get her back in easily after her feeding. We had to pack it for the first time recently to stay at my parents' house. It's not the easiest thing in the world to pack up. There are more than one bags you need to take with you, but it did pack up small enough for us to travel with it easily and set up is easy. If you travel a lot, it might not be the co-sleeper for you, but it was not much of a hassle for a one time thing. It also feels sturdy, so I don't have to worry about her being okay in it.

For the price, this is excellent!

Very nervous about ordering my daughters crib on-line, very very nervous. But after checking out the local shops and looking at almost every crib here on Amazon I felt a bit more confident and ordered this one.Wow.So far both the grandparents have commented on how pretty it is. It's solid once assembled. It's nice looking, meets all the new safety standards, no drop side so no worries and it has an adjustable height on the mattress to make up for the change in safety standards regarding drop sides.We got the cherry finish and my wife was worried, but it's a classic victorian cherry so you're getting a dark red stain, very nice.Standard mattress fits nicely inside, no gaps, and the mattress support is a steel frame with steel mesh and springs.So why the 4 stars?Well, because it's a typical self assembly, allen wrench, thumb blister kit. I swear it's been a week and the side of my thumb still hurts from tightening all of the screws.I still don't understand to this day why they stopped using Phillips screws for these kits and it really wouldn't be so bad accept for the fact that my daughter learned how to pull herself up about 5 minutes after we finished the crib and put her in it. We had built it at the top height so we could get her out easier. We thought it'd save us some back pain and it would be fine since she couldn't stand up without help. Well OF COURSE she stood up right after that, that's what kids do.... sigh. So I had to unscrew the most difficult screws in the bed and re-screw them in new slots using that annoyingly thin little allen wrench.But that's really my only gripe. The packaging was fine, no damage to the crib, lots of Styrofoam, cardboard supports and separators. I'm a big guy so I could actually lift the package myself, though it does say "Team Lift" on the side and if I wasn't 6'5" I couldn't have carried it alone, to long and awkward. But the weight was very manageable, not like most solid hardwood cribs that weigh a ton.For the price I really couldn't be happier with this purchase. And knowing that it converts into a day bed and then a head and foot board when she's ready just makes it feel like that much more of a bargain. If you're worried about the side coming off prematurely, don't, it's bolted on just like the other sides. To convert it to a day bed you have to remove the bolts.We'll see how well it withstands the test of time. I'll write an update if anything happens.So here's a tip for anyone who hasn't done many of these "DIY furniture" kits. Once you've got it put together, go back through every screw from the beginning and try tightening them again. Lots of screws will loosen as you tighten others. Read the warning for the mattress height, If your child can pull themselves up on their own, the mattress goes at the lowest setting, trust me, you don't want to have to re-set this thing anytime soon, the mattress screws are painted ends so they kind of glue in, very difficult to get them back out.

So Far So Good!

My husband and I put this together in less then 20 mins! Arrived as expected, beautiful color (doesn't look cheap,) structurely sound, and JPMA certified. My main concern was it not having a drop-side, however, the height is PERFECT. With the ADJUSTABLE mattress spring board (metal) at it's highest level and a 5-6 inch thick mattress, the baby is within a safe and not to deep reach (about 2 feet.)GREAT deal! Crib @ $127.00 and mattress @ $45.00 = New crib set for under $200.00. This is if you can find the items with free shipping.Currently, I cannot find any problems and am VERY satisfied with this product. I will come back and comment when the crib has had more use.

Great product for a great price

Needed a crib in a pinch. The price was right but of course at $130 it made me worry. Got it and assembled within an hour and that's with a 2 year old being "helpful". I don't understand why some people had trouble with assembly. It's quite easy but I would suggest having a helper. It can be tricky to try and thread some of the allen screws while holding different sides of the crib together. Took no more tools than the allen wrench that it came with. Quality looks decent and seems quite secure to me. No complaints about cost or quality. I've posted a couple of images. Hope they help.I don't understand some of the previous negative reviews. One is talking about a drop side... This crib doesn't have a drop side. someone is definitely confused and is reviewing the wrong product.
