Nice Crib - FedEx Delivery Poor

The Crib: Is well built and definitely worth the price paid. Assembly was pretty straight forward and the instructions were decent at least. It would really help to have a second person to help later in the assembly to hold while you put sections together. Overall, I would definitely buy this unit again, it is a good value. Fit and Finish are better than expected for this price range. Delivery: Here is how my daughter described delivery by FedEx... "I had just fallen asleep on the couch, and never even heard the truck backing up my driveway... I was awakened by a huge bang!... I looked outside and saw the FedEx truck drive away, so I looked in my garage, and there was the crib. The box was torn open and you could see inside, but had been re taped".Luckily, after I went to her house and inspected the crib, it somehow managed to avoid damage. Note to FedEx driver: next time try using a hand truck properly and lay the package down instead of dumping it. You might also try knocking or ringing the doorbell to let the customer know you are there instead of the method you used and startling them. I work for a delivery company (larger than FedEx), and I certainly know the stresses you are under, but that type of delivery is unacceptable in many ways. I would have been pretty upset if the crib had been damaged and I had to go through the hassle of repacking and returning it. Bottom Line: Great Product for the money, but hope you have a better FedEx driver in your area!

Beautiful, distinct crib at a fantastic price!

I was a bit leary of buying this sight unseen, especially with no reviews and no Google searches turning up anything. Boy am I glad I did though! I purchased the white version, and it is actually more cream/antique than stark white. Easily assembled in about 45 minutes and it is solid! One tiny crack in the bottom of one of the sides, but it'll never been seen and doesn't affect the use at all. Sits low to the ground and has no moving rails, so it is very sturdy for my 18mth old jumping bean! I have a Ra.gazzi crib as well, and this is extremely comparable in quality. The ONLY thing I wish MDB/DaVinci did was add caps for the holes after you screw the parts together. I don't really like seeing the screws/holes in plain sight, but it's a small price to pay for such a quality, convertible item as this price! :) Don't spend hundreds on a fancier crib, this one is unique and durable!

We just purchased one of these cribs for our little girl, I went back and forth between several different cribs before settling on this one, but I am glad we did. The color is more of an antique white versus a true white, but this does not bother me and matches the bedding just fine. It went together very easily and is very sturdy. The only thing I am not crazy about is that there are some extra holes on the front legs that are not shown in the picture here. All I can figure out is that they will be used when converted to the full size bed. In the meantime, I am going to paint them white so they don't stand out so much.

Good product but disappointed with color

This crib is very sturdy and is very good quality. The description says it's white and it's NOT. It's an off white/yellow color. I'm happy with the quality but now all the storage stystems we've bought and changing table have to be painted so everything matches. Not happy with the color but over all it's a good crib.

Nice looking Bassinet, plan on replacing the pad.

I took a chance buying this bassinet since there weren't any reviews. I rely heavily on reviews when making purchases on Amazon so hopefully this review provides the information you are looking for and helps you if you are considering this Bassinet.I like the fact that this bassinet is built out of real wood, which gives it nice modern look. The item is well built and sturdy. Assembly is pretty easy--there a a few places where the instructions could have been more helpful, but it is pretty hard to screw up the installation too badly.My biggest question I had before buying this bassinet was the pad size. The included pad is 17"x34"x1" --This is not a standard size and you will have a hard time finding sheets that are designed for this size. I purchased the American Baby Company Value Jersey Knit Cradle Sheet, Ecru which is for 18x36 mattresses and it fits the included pad just fine. That being said, the Included pad is not worth using in my opinion. It is thin, noisy, flimsy, and not durable. My older kids were playing with some toys on the pad while I was putting the bassinet together, and they managed to put several holes in the plastic that covers the foam. I am happy to report that the 18x36x2 mattresses fit flat inside this bassinet. I purchased this one: Cradle Mattress - 18 X 36 X 2" Thick and it is so much nicer than the one that came with the bassinet. The poor quality of the included pad is the reason I knocked a star off of my rating. I almost would have preferred this item come with no pad and advertise the correct size to buy.Now with the thicker pad inside this bassinet, I really like it. I would have given this product 5 stars if it came with a better mattress or if I were only reviewing the bassinet without the included mattress being part of the product

Good looking and sturdy

I received my bassinet today and I'm pretty pleased overall. It looks awesome once you get it assembled and the height feels just right. We are both 5'9'' and I like that I don't have to stoop down low to get the baby in and out. The color of the wood is nice too and finished evenly.For the price however I would have expected a few differences, for example as other reviewers noted the mattress pad it comes with is ridiculous! It's a thin 1/2" sorry piece of foam wrapped in the cheapest plastic cover and doesn't fully fit the bassinet and is too small, uggh!Based on another reviewers advice I purchased this mattress-http://www.amazon.com/Cradle-Mattress-18-36-Thick/dp/B002CYJU6C/ref=br_it_dp_o_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=25FTQZF5I0CAP&coliid=I18D3WVEHOM2O.I placed the pad that was provided under the one I bought and now it is perfect.The other thing that's a little off putting are the instructions, even though this is a pretty straight forward product to assemble the instructions could be better. They are ikea style illustrations and the actual pieces don't quite fit adding to the frustration. Beautiful bassinet

This bassinet is beautiful and I believe much better looking than most others on the market. It was fairly easy to assemble for an 8 month pregnant woman. My husband was proud of me! I have to agree with the previous reviewer, that it could have explained a little more in detail on some of the steps. It is sturdy in construction. Again, I will agree with the last reviewer and say the mattress included is a flimsy plastic nightmare. I purchased two bassinet sheets that were Babies R Us brand and they did not fit at all! Too bad I washed them before I tried to put them on. They were too small and literally bent the flimsy thin mattress pad in half! I am going to look into the mattress pad and sheets the other poster bought. Thank you for including that in your review by the way.Cruddy mattress pad asside, this is a beautiful and sturdy bassinet I would recommend buying. Just buy it knowing you'll have to buy another mattress to put inside and that it is not your typical standard bassinet size so you may have a hard time finding the right fit.

I love this bassinet. Not only is it cute, but very functional. It fits in and out of doorways, and has really made my life much easier with a newborn. My only complaint is that when in the bassinet setting ( the padding is hanging from the top of the crib) and your baby gains a little bit of weight it sags in the middle. My son has started to lay across it since otherwise his bottom hangs a little bit. So, in that sense it is not functional for very long. I do love it, and am not sad that I bought it, but now I am going to buy a portable crib, a wood one, since I do not want him to be sleeping in a different room from me yet. If you are buying this so your baby can sleep in your bedroom and wish to do that for 3 months or more and money is a bit more of a factor it might be a better idea to just go directly to a wooden portable crib. They make great ones that fold. That way when your baby hits 10 pounds and you still want him in bassinet mode his butt will not sag in the middle.It has been several months since this initial review and I did not end up replacing the crib. I put a piece of plywood cut to the size of the mattress to make the bassinet setting last longer and it worked very well ( I also made my own sheets that sandwiched the plywood to the mattress so there was no separation). When my son moved out of the bassinet to his crib we continued to use this travel crib as well... a travel crib and I loved that about this product. The fact that we were able to travel with something familiar my son is able to sleep anywhere. I love the mesh on the sides so I do not have to worry about the whole bumper thing. I did not want to delete my initial review because I feel as though the sagging bassinet setting is important info to a potential buyer and people should know about all their options before purchasing this product.

Pros: The weight limit is higher than most bassinets and pack and plays with the bassinet insert. Most of those only go up to 15lbs. This one is 30 I think. My baby weighed 8lbs 10oz. at birth. She was able to use it up to 8 months. It is very sturdy, not shaky at all. Well made. Even after she could't use it as a crib anymore, I took it with us when we traveled and she was able to sleep in it with it set up as play yard. She used it like this up to 2 years of age. The price is more affordable than most bassinets and play yards. It folds nicely, comes with case. Easy to clean and wipe down, etc.Con: the only con I could think of is that I could only find the sheet in stores that sold it. Like Babies R Us.

Great for Camping or for a small place!

I had been searching for a smaller pack and play for our 3 month grandaughter to use in our RV. There was no way our full size pack & play would have fit and I was unsure as to where she would sleep, but now my problem is solved! This turns out to be the perfect size! A good bit smaller than the full size but just as sturdy! The wheels are great, the bassinet feature will be useful until she's a little older and the canopy will come in handy for outside use. So, if you are looking for something smaller to use when traveling or camping - this is the one!

Great crib-- Amazing customer service!

I did not purchase this from Amazon but wanted to share my thoughts on this crib and more importantly the company that makes is. Two years ago, I purchased this from a furniture store in our area. The service was mediocre at best and when they delivered the crib, they told my husband and me that all of the parts needed to convert the crib to a toddler bed/day bed were in boxes which they placed in our basement. Fast forward two years-- we go to convert the crib to a toddler bed and the toddler rails are not there. The store we purchased the crib from is now out of business, so I figured that I would have to purchase the rails, etc.I called Westwood Baby this morning and they are mailing the rails, support feet, etc to us free of charge. Not only is this an amazing crib-- high quality, beautiful worksmanship, sturdy, and most importantly safe, but the customer service provided by Westwood is excellent. I never expected them to send me the parts at no cost-- it certainly wasn't their fault that the furniture store didn't supply all of the parts (or our fault that we didn't check everything out at the time) and I was expecting and perfectly willing to pay for the parts we were missing. I was shocked at the amazing customer service and just wanted to share my experience.Again, the crib is wonderful-- looks brand new, great quality wood, beautiful color-- not too dark-- not too light (we have the Virginia Cherry finish) and the customer service provided by Westwood is beyond amazing!

Great Product, Even Better Service

The crib was everything I expected. After much research my husband and I decided we liked the Westwood Stratton crib the best. The company gets great remarks from BabyBargin and other resources for quality at a reasonable price. We even went to a local store to see it before we purchased. The crib required some assembly but nothing my husband and father-in-law couldn't handle - it took them about 1 hour to assemble. The crib arrived in perfect condition with all the parts and is very solid and heavy. You do have to be home to receive the purchase, but the shipping company provided a 2 hour window and then a 30 minute courtesy call so I could quickly run home from work.Where I was really impressed with this purchase was the service I received from Amazon.com. The furniture was delivered in 1.5 weeks vs the 8 weeks our local store quoted me. With no sales tax and free shipping it started out less than the store would have cost me as well. When the crib went on sale the day after I purchased it, Amazon credited my card! We got such a great deal on a truely lovely crib. Now I just have to wait for baby to arrive to put it to use :)

Fantastic crib and even better customer service

We received this crib as a gift for our first baby. The color is gorgeous and the crib is incredibly solid and well-made. The crib arrived approximately 8 days after the order was placed (it was ordered on a Saturday). They called me the day prior and gave a 3 hour window for when they would deliver the crib. The delivery man then called on the morning of the delivery to verify my address and directions. The crib was delivered as scheduled. Upon opening the box I discovered that the headboard and a stabilizer bar were both damaged. The box seemed intact and the product was well packed, but it was a very large box, so I am not sure when the damage occurred. I contacted Amazon and they gave me two options. They would either gladly ship me an entire new crib, or, if I did not wish to deal with that hassle, I could contact Westwood directly for replacement of only the parts I needed. I contacted Westwood and they were incredibly helpful. They asked me to e-mail them a picture of the damaged parts along with information such as my name, address, model, color, and the parts I needed replaced. The parts shipped separately, but I had both replacement parts within 2 weeks. Both arrived in fantastic condition and I was able to finish assembling the crib. Not only is the quality of the product fantastic, but the customer service from both Amazon and Westwood was superb. Getting the parts replaced was hassle free and incredibly fast. I am excited to order the matching dresser and know that I have a well-made quality product that is backed by a fantastic company. As for assembly, the crib came with everything needed to assemble it. I am 28 weeks pregnant and I was able to put this crib together by myself in about 1 hour. I can't wait for our little guy to get here so he can sleep in this crib.

MISSING PARTS???

My son loves the bed is the good part, however the stickers were a total hassle to out on, and I messed one up and there is nothing you can do about it, if you try to peel it off to place it differntly it tears and looks even worse. In addition, the bed does not come with anything to hold the matress up with, so every time my son would get on the bed the matress would fall into the center. We ended up making something out of some plywood that works awesome, however for a bed that is over $200 I am beginning to wonder if it is really worth it.

My son LOVES this bed!

My son absolutely loves his Cars toddler bed. We co sleep and he still nurses to sleep and this bed is so cool to him he'll actually will fall asleep on his own in it most nights. He never wanted to sleep in his crib when we converted it into a toddler bed - this bed was a different story. He also loves playing on his bed, he loves tracing the sides of McQueen with his die cast cars, like they are roads. More money than I wanted to spend on a toddler bed but seeing how well it's worked out and how much my son is in love with it I'd pay double.The stickers and body itself are holding up quite well (I was worried the stickers would get peeled off by a kid who's trying to fall asleep but bored and picking at them). It was a breeze to put together but I'll echo what everyone else has said - the stickers are a pain in the rear to apply. Not impossible, though, and didn't take nearly as long as a lot of other replies seemed to quote. Definitely apply them when the car is in pieces as you'll need to be able to maneuver and manipulate each one so the sticker application goes smoother...BUT leave the wheel stickers (the center of each tire) for last!!!! You're going to have to screw the wheels into the car body and don't want to rip the sticker doing so. In summary: once the stickers are on, put the car together, then apply those inner tire stickers you set aside for last. Then just watch your kid freak out with delight.

WOW! - My husband wishes he had a bed like this when he was little.

Like all the other reviewers - the bed really has that WOW factor and my husband did have to drill some of the holes larger. The stickers were a real pain to put on but in the same way they are hard to take off so that's a good thing with my son. We too had to make 3 small plywood inserts to keep the mattress from falling in. (What good is a bed like this if your buddies can't sit up there too with you?)It's a very heavy bed and my husband needed help carrying it up our stairs due to the size/shape of the box and the fact that our stairwell turns after a small landing. Just bulky enough to need an extra pair of hands.Our 4 yr old son (about 30 lbs) LOVES this bed. He can't stop sitting on it and smiling. Yes it's expensive, but it's well made and hopefully with make another little boy very happy when he is done with it.BabyAge (seller) did an amazing job of shipping it very quickly too!
